Click here to view all obituariesI was lucky enough to marry into this amazing family. Mitch came down to Cajun country, where I am from originially, to attend Lindsey and I's wedding festivites of August 2013. He was so excited to be down there and it was just so easy to see, that you couldn't help but to feel good just looking at him. The guy was completely in is element over 1,000 miles from his home.
You would not believe the impression he made on my family. Just about everyone who met him proceeded to regularly ask SPECIFICALLY about Mitch and how he was doing. Several of my family members can still recall specific conversations they had with him because he made such an impression. We all knew he would make it back down there one day to do some fishing with my dad, cooking with my Aunt, or shootin' the sh*t with my grandpa. He regularly shared his catch of the week with my dad via texts and visa versa.
One strong characteristic of being a Cajun is being very friendly (some like my wife would say "overly so") to strangers and new friends as if you had known them your whole life. Anyone who knew Mitch would agree he displayed this characteristic every day of his life.
I'm happy to have Mitch as an honorary Cajun. We all know we lost a very special part of our lives, but I choose to remember him for all he added to my family in a very small period of time.
You will be missed my friend,
Kyle Simon
