The Travel Plan

A Wise Idea…the Travel Plan

As Americans we love our times away from work and daily grind of pressing responsibilities. We love to get in the car and drive to our destination down South in Florida for the winter or out West to see the National Parks. We love to fly to faraway places, maybe even different countries. What if you are a professional person who travels for your job or you have a different city every night of the week on a business trip? We love the destinations with a cruise ship to Tropical islands and the entertainment on board during the evenings dressed up in our finest fashions. But amidst all the fun plans and times, what if the unexpected happens? What if your spouse dies on the trip?

I have always admired people who are always “forward thinkers.” I believe my parents were planning people and individuals who thought ahead. I remember my mother always saving for “a rainy day.” As I have lived a bit of my years, I know how important those “rainy day funds” can be with unforeseen breakdowns of a well or the expiring of a household furnace during some of the coldest days in the winter or a sump pump malfunctioning causing a complete flooding of the basement. But how about a personal major health issue or death while away from home or on a vacation, do you have a plan?

The Travel Plan is a new an inventive concept that can ease the burden of making funeral home selections in a strange city. Inman Shipping Worldwide has representatives in reliable funeral homes scattered around the world, so wherever you are, there should be a representative close by to assist with the immediate need for the preparation of the spouse to be sent home. If we can ease just one family’s traumatic grief during the unsuspecting notification of a death while on a trip or vacation, we will feel blessed. Now what we need to do is have you do some forward thinking and planning ahead so that you have a plan if the unforeseen should actually happen on vacation. My wife and I have signed up years ago with a plan similar to this one; we would recommend it to you and your partner also.

There are some pertinent questions which need to be answered and kept on file. There is the enrollment fee which can be transacted with check, cash or a credit card. Once your enrollment fee has been received by the Travel Plan Administrative Center, then an enrollment number would be issued for the purchaser that can be carried in your wallet or purse forever. There is not a yearly renewal fee. There may be additional costs at the time of need depending on the manner of death or number of death certificates that your family would request. As with all insurances you purchase, you may not use this type of plan now or later in life. But you still have a homeowner’s insurance with a provision in case of fire, broken water pipe and personal liability provisions. This application process could take up to half an hour, but it may be one of the best half hours you have ever spent. When a loved one passes, the spouse could be overwhelmed with the number of tasks, questions and decisions which need to be made while struggling with disbelief, heartache and a range of other sad emotions. When you are home and have your family close by, death is not an easier task but it does happen within the confines of familiar surroundings and comforting friends. When you are on a trip, you are there by yourself to comb through the details hoping you are making the correct choices for all concerned in your family.

This program is offered to the community by the Bachman Hebble Funeral Service and Inman Shipping Worldwide. Bachman Hebble is the exclusive representative for this area. However, even though Bachman Hebble would help you with your application for the Travel Plan, you are free to select a different funeral home if you chose to. The plan would cover your spouse or yourself for the duration of your life 24/7 and 365 days a year, if you are killed or expire while traveling more than 100 miles from home. What you would pay for your Travel Plan could save your family many hundreds of dollars. This is a unique concept that a funeral home is conscious of your interest to save money, who doesn’t like to save money these days??

You and your spouse may be fortunate to travel with a group of friends, but if you are by yourself it will probably feel like the loneliest or traumatic moments of your life which you never wanted to experience. Who do you turn to for advice? You may want to do some “forward thinking” now before your next trip. May we make a suggestion? You could contact the fine directors at the Bachman Hebble Funeral Service and complete the application and a few questions for a “Travel Plan” to insure you have wishes set in place to bring your spouse from the far away point “A” back to your home and point “B” in Battle Creek.  If your spouse dies while on a trip more than 100 miles away from Battle Creek or your permanent residence the plan will contact a nearby funeral home or mortuary for the remains preparations for travel. An airline approved human remains cargo container. A contact is made for you with the nearest airport for transfer back to your preferred funeral home where your permanent residence is designated. Legal residence is understood to be “the permanent fixed place of abode.” Your legal residence will require you verifying that address with a voter registration, driver’s license or other means.

Questions? Call Bachman Hebble Funeral Home at (269) 965-5145 and we would be happy to assist you.
