Condolences

Condolence From: Terry Whitted
Condolence: Oh my. I am way late on discovering this. But - I went to Loma Linda with Dale. And we had so much fun together. I shared a number of things with Dale - being a man in a class largely made up of women. Being married and going to school. And A strong love of playing badminton. Dale and I would be in class. And our eyes would meet. We knew what each other was thinking - BADMINTON. And our eyes made the appointment.

I have one more story about Dale. He loved Michigan and was out of place in California . 6 months of studying in California - all of a sudden the skies cleared and he could see mountain . Real mountains. He was floored.

Another time we had a good old California earthquake (something Dale had never experienced). Dale was so discombobulated that one night he ran out in the street with only his underwear on. I lived across the drive from Dale. Poor Dale was totally confused as to what to do when the earth was shaking from under his feet.

I will always treasure the time I was able to witness the spirit that Dale had.

Condolence: I am heartbroken to hear of this loss. I worked with Dale for years at Lifespan and was the PT supervisor. I spent many hours talking with Dale in our office and "picking his brain" about issues. We always made sure that Dale received people that needed someone to talk to, as he was the best at that. He was not only a fantastic OT, but with his psychology background, he was able to work with patients that could otherwise be challenging. He always had a smile on his face and was willing to sit down and talk. I always said that when you tell people to "think outside the box", Dale was someone who didn't even have a box! He always had good ideas that we never even considered. I do remember one funny time though, that he came in and said that that morning, he had taken a quick drink of his soda that he had left in the car from the day before. He said he was thirsty and that he had forgotten to get something new to drink. He said it tasted a bit funny, but he didn't think otherwise of it. Also, he had parked his car in the garage the night before with the windows slightly open. By the time he had finished up his soda and arrived at work, he took a look at the can, since he thought it was odd that it was still a bit heavy even though he had been drinking from it the whole way. There was a dead mouse in the can ! Somehow, it had crawled through the window and fit into the soda can and he had not known that, and had drunk the entire mouse-infused pop on the way to work. These are the things that I am going to remember about Dale and miss. My condolences to you, the family - may you remember the laughter and good times and know that Dale affected all those that were around him in a positive way.
