John Peter Pluymers
John Peter Pluymers, 53, of Delton, passed away Thursday, September 20th, 2018. He was born March 5th, 1965 in Battle Creek, the son of Ronald and Mary (Shaffer) Pluymers. John excelled in sports when in high school. He was captain of the football team and the wrestling team, and became an Eagle Scout in 1976. John graduated from Battle Creek Central High School in 1983. John was previously very active in the Bedford Fire Department, once saving the lives of two children by pulling them out of a fire. Then, after completing Truck Driving School, he drove semi trucks across the country. John also operated heavy equipment for various companies, including the City of Battle Creek in the streets department. Most recently, John was employed by Consumer's Energy as a Coal Supply Operator. John married Kimberly Earl on September 5th, 2015. John was known for his great sense of humor and how he was always willing to help a friend in need. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and his faithful yellow lab, Frankie.
He is survived by his wife, Kimberly Pluymers; children, Kayte (Sean) Kennedy, Chris (Amber Striker) Pluymers, Codi Pluymers, Ronnie (Samantha Clark) Pluymers, McKenzie (Corey) Spencer and Taylor (Joe) Koopman; parents, Ron and Mary Pluymers, brother, Jeffrey (Kathy Jo Uecker) Pluymers; 11 grandchildren with one on the way; father in law, Elvin Swan, siblings in law, Tammy (Mike) Tanksley, and Randy (Roberta) Swan.
He was preceded in death by his granddaughter Nattaly Brown, infant grandson Ronald Edward Jonathan Jeffrey Pluymers, and mother in law, Marilyn Swan.
Visitation will be held Tuesday from 6:00-8:00 PM at Bachman Hebble Funeral Service, and from 10:00-11:00 AM on Wednesday. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 AM at Bachman Hebble Funeral Service with Pastor Jeff Worden of Hickory Corners Bible Church officiating. Burial will be at the Bedford Cemetery in Bedford Township, MI. Memorial tributes may be made to St. Jude's Hospital.
