Dolores Mae Briggs (Eldridge)
Dolores Mae Briggs, 95, of Battle Creek, passed away Monday, September 12, 2016 at Bronson at Home Hospice. She was born March 9, 1921 in Battle Creek, the daughter of Clifford and Naomi R. (Chastain) Eldridge. Dolores graduated from Battle Creek Central High School in 1940. She married the late Walter E. Briggs on August 4, 1940 at Christ United Methodist Church of Battle Creek. She worked in the packaging department of the Kellogg Company for 14 years until she retired in 1979. Dolores was formerly employed by Ship Services at the U S Naval Base Great Lakes in Chicago, IL. She was a "charter member" of the Christ United Methodist Church, where she was involved in the Faith Circle, was the church historian and taught Sunday School for 21 years. She enjoyed sewing, doing crafts, knitting, crocheting and traveling. Dolores wintered in Crystal River, Florida for several years with her late husband, Walter. She cherished and enjoyed every moment spent with her family and Friends.
She is survived by her children, Steven (Kathleen) Briggs and Sandra (Kenwood) Adams; 7 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Norma Eldridge.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walter; and brothers, Clyde Eldridge, Donald Eldridge and Robert Eldridge.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 6:00-8:00 PM at Bachman Hebble Funeral Service. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11:00 AM at Bachman Hebble Funeral Service. Burial will be held on Monday at 1:00 PM at the Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, MI. Memorial tributes may be made to Christ United Methodist Church, Bronson at Home Hospice, or The Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired (ABVI) of Michigan.
