Obituary for
Nancy Lee Hawks (Studley)
Nancy Lee Hawks, 84, of Battle Creek joined the Lord on August 14, 2016. Nancy was born in Springfield, Ohio to Edward and Helen Studley. She grew up in Toledo, Ohio and moved to Battle Creek and married Gordon Lee Hawks in 1958. She earned degrees in Business and Sociology from Nazareth College and worked at Kellogg's for over 20 years, retiring as Manager of Contract Negotiations. Nancy loved music and was a very talented singer, having sung as a youngster on Toledo radio and in the choir of St. Peter Lutheran Church where she was a lifelong member. Nancy sheltered and cared for many people beyond her own family, was a generous volunteer; a true angel to her community. Nancy traveled many places around the world but always returned home to her glorious life in the woods off Grand Boulevard. She was a great homemaker, a wonderful mother and grandmother, and a loyal friend. Nancy was a kind and loving soul, always providing wisdom, support and encouragement. She touched many lives and will be sorely missed.
Nancy is survived by her sons, Greg, Scott and Matthew and daughter, Kim and their families; and a sister, Carol.
She was preceded in death by her loving parents; husband; and a brother, Sonny.
A memorial service will take place next week at St. Peter Lutheran Church followed by a private burial at Fort Custer National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Peter Lutheran Church or The Purple Heart Foundation.
