When I was 14 or 15, I wanted to go to a summer camp in New York. My mom and dad told me I could go if I saved up a certain amount of money to go towards the trip. Somehow I managed to get hired at the Saxon Drive In in Hastings. I had only worked there a few days when Steve stopped by for some lunch. As I brought out his order, I somehow managed to dump the whole tall frosty mug of root beer promptly in his lap. I felt terrible and kept apologizing. I went in and got him some towels and a new mug of root beer. He told me not to worry about it, but also took the new root beer out of my hand and said he would keep it in his car. Apparently he didn't want to risk a second bath of root beer that day! When he left that day an I was taking his tray back to the kitchen, I noticed he left a very large tip. It was then I realized what a very kind and generous man Steve Powell was. I also figured he knew my career in waitressing would be short lived, but I never forgot his generosity which was so Steve. He will be truly and greatly missed!
