John M. "Johnny" Peck
John “Johnny” M. Peck, age 75, of Battle Creek, died Thursday May 19, at Select Specialty Hospital. Johnny was born December 31, 1940 in Battle Creek, to Ivan and Grace (Young) Peck and was a 1959 graduate of Battle Creek Central High School. Johnny served in the US Navy from 1959 to 1963; he was then employed by the Eaton Manufacturing Company for 31 years, retiring in 2000. Johnny enjoyed building birdhouses as gifts, motorcycles, lighthouses, car races, puzzles. Johnny had a great personality; he loved picnics and pool parties and was a great cook. Johnny had also served as an observer at the Hot Air Balloon Championships, for many years. He is survived by his sisters, Elnora (Richard) Lee of Battle Creek, a niece, Karen Lee- Hreha, of Battle Creek, nephews, Neil Peck, of Battle Creek, and David (Kelly) Peck, Newport News, VA, great nephew Trent Peck, stepsister, Joan (Clyde) Whaley, of Battle Creek, Stepbrother, John (Jane) Misener, in Eugene, Oregon, sister in law, Joyce Peck, of Battle Creek, special family friends, Carol, Linda, Dean Linstead, and Judy Brady , all of Battle Creek, and his special cat, “Tiger”. Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, a step mother, Dorothy Peck, a brother, Galen Peck. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 PM Friday May 27th, at the Bachman Hebble Funeral Service for a time of remembrance.
