Obituary for Mildred Lee Fortson (Fortson)

Mildred Lee Fortson, 83, of Battle Creek, passed away Monday, March 16, 2015 at Bronson Battle Creek. She was born February 5, 1932 in Hatchechubbee, AL the daughter of Halton and Lois (Morris) Fortson. She was a member of Mt. Zion AME Church. She enjoyed working puzzle books, playing bingo, and watching WWE wrestling. Her greatest joy was taking trips to the store with her son and spending time with her family. She always looked forward to holidays and family gatherings.
She is survived by her son, James (Pam) Fortson; brother, Halton (Lula) Fortson, Jr.; 3 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Clara (Debirley) Davis.
Visitation will be held Monday from 12:00-1:00 PM at the Mount Zion A.M.E. Church with funeral services to follow at 1:00 PM with Rev. Douglas Banks officiating. Burial will be at the Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens in Battle Creek, MI. Memorial tributes may be made to Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church.
