Our memories of Mike will last forever. How will anyone ever fill the space of Mike’s smile or his generosity of time to everyone he knew, near or far? He most likely did not think he worked a day in his life. At the end of the day, he just wanted a couple more hours to be with family, friends or someone who just needed a hand. On his first wedding anniversary Mike even ran out to go help a couple of guys stuck in a creek at the bottom of a hill at Fort Custer. His interests were like an encyclopedia …never ending. Who would have ever thought that he would be the one to give you your first copy of the Wall Street Journal? This is the Mike Wenzler I knew and he will be missed.

Like many I was saddened to hear of Mike's accident and his untimely passing. Many of us played together as boys, and I remember Mike excelling at so many things. If you happened to live in a small subdivision called, Valhalla Heights in the 60's you learned that Mike developed the talent for riding his Stingray bicycle for more than a block on exclusively on the rear tire. The rest of us tried and failed with varying degrees of embarrassment and injuries. During that same time, Mike developed his musical skills when garage bands and could both sing and play the guitar. I had lost contact with Mike for several years and in 1995 I happened to take my son to Martin Dragway. Mike yelled my name and it was as if we had just talked the day before. I learned then of Mike's interests and skills with drag cars; I think he was the crew chief for a funny car and gave my son and me a tour of the pit area. Since learning of Mike's accident, I thought back to Mike from fifty years ago. He was a very handsome young man who was nearly always smiling, frequently laughing and never taking himself too seriously.

My heart goes out to Cindy and family. Doris Wenzler and my mom, Shirley Tuttle, worked together with the March of Dimes. Mike got me started on a guitar and trusted me with his electric guitar. He's in a better place but will be dearly missed. Hugs to all. Cherish those wonderful memories.

Mike was one of the most genuine, easy going, fun loving and friendly people I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. He was the type of man that would do just about anything for anyone to help them out. Most every time I saw Mike, we would turn a 5 minute conversation into a hour or more discussion on just about any topic that came to mind, just because he was so easy to talk to, outgoing and personable. He was a person that I was proud to know. I can not begin to express the level of sadness I feel over Mike's passing, as he has truly been a great friend to me and my family over the years. Cindy, Mara and Brett, please accept our deepest sympathies and know that our thoughts and prayers are with you.
