Larry W. Yohe, age 87, of Battle Creek, died Monday May 9, 2011 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center, Battle Creek. Larry was born April 5, 1924 in Followfield Township, Pennsylvania to George and Blanche (Jones) Yohe. Larry came to Battle Creek in 1951 after his discharge from the US Army and received his training as a Licensed Practical Nurse at Kellogg Community College in 1959. He had been employed at Leila Hospital from 1959 to 1962; he then worked at the Veterans Administration Hospital from 1962 until his retirement in 1992 and received many awards for outstanding service to his patients. Larry was a long time member of the Battle Creek Y Center and was a volunteer at the Battle Creek Health system for many years. Larry attended the Emmett Street Missionary Church. Larry is survived by his wife the former Barbara Gibson, sons; Timothy M. (Myrna) Yohe of Battle Creek and James R. (Karen) Yohe, of Hillham, TN. Grandchildren, Crystle Brower, Jeremy Brower and Jonathan Eakins and two great grandchildren. Larry was preceded in death by his parents and sisters; Barbara Crowe and Sara Adams, brothers; Davis Yohe and Marcus Yohe. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 pm PM Thursday at the Bachman Hebble Funeral Service, 223 N. Bedford Rd. Funeral services will be held 11:30 AM Friday at the funeral home.
