Bobby Joe Quarles Sr., age 73, of Bangor, died Saturday March 5, 2011 at Bronson Methodist Hospital, Kalamazoo. He was born August 21, 1937 in Arcadia, Louisiana to Clem and Johnetta (Graham) Quarles and was raised by his great grandparents, Earnest and Easter Graham. He came to Battle Creek in 1957 while serving in the Air Force. Bobby had been employed by the Veterans Administration Hospital, Michigan State Hospital, Michigan Carton Co., Eaton Manufacturing, Blue Arrow Douglas Transport, Benke Trucking Co. and the USF Holland Motor Freight for ten years retiring in 2000. Bobby enjoyed riding and repairing motorcycles, trips to the beach, watching western movies and spending time with his grandchildren. Bobby is survived by his wife, the former Katherine Slaughter, daughters, Creceda (Rocky) Thompson and Rochelle (Charles)Collett, both of Battle Creek, sons, Bobby (Joyce) Quarles Jr.of Lafayette, IN, and Larry (Glenna) Wilson of Battle Creek. Sisters; Carla Kimble, Creceda (Simms) Thompson, and Shirley Herring, a brother; Alfred (Teresa) Graham, Grandchildren; Cre’Shelle and Bobby Quarles III, Michael Linton II, and Ashley (Caleb) Mitchell, Tyrone and Lusiano Quarles, Erica Hall and Larry Eldridge, nine great grandchildren, his former wife and mother of his children, Ella Mae Quarles, of Battle Creek, many nieces , nephews, cousins and his Aunt Tressie, In laws; David and Wendy Slaughter and their son Steven and his four legged companion “Zena”. Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, a son; Tony Quarles, a brother; Clem Quarles Jr., a sister: Sally Kimble. The family will receive friends Friday at 11:00 AM at the Bachman Hebble Funeral Service, 223 N. Bedford Rd. Funeral services will be held 12 noon Friday at the Funeral Home, Pastory Timothy Troxler of the Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, officiating. Memorials may be given to the Michael J.
