It is with tremendous sadness that the family of Barbara Ann Brower age 76 announces the passing of our dear mother, grandmother, sister, and friend on Monday, January 7, 2019 at the Advantage Living Center in Battle Creek, MI.
She was born July 28, 1942 in Hastings, MI the daughter of Kenneth R. Brower and Maxine (Martin) Brower.
She enjoyed being a secretary at the Battle Creek Federal Center until she became a stay-at-home Mother and homemaker. She graduated in 1960 from Hastings High School; Hastings MI moved to the Bedford area in 1968.She has been in declining health for the past two years.
. She is survived by her son: Eric N. “Rick” & Mary Bird of Battle Creek, MI; her former husband: Norman D. Bird of Bedford, MI; two granddaughters - Kimberly Bird of Kansas City, Kansas and Stephanie Bird of Mount Pleasant, MI; and her sister: Rebecca & Gary Thomas of Coldwater, MI.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother: Kenneth Martin Brower.
She liked to paint in watercolors and create her own art work through painting and other media. She had fun going to the Bird Sanctuary and feeding the ducks, birds and other animals. She liked to spend time with family and friends. She was an avid reader. When the family was younger they would go to the family summer cottage.
Visitation will be held Saturday, January 12, 2019 from 12:00 noon until 2:00 PM with the family present. Memorial services will be in the funeral home chapel January 12, 2019 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Brian Lutz of Heartland Hospice officiating. Burial of cremated remains will be later at the Riverside Cemetery in Hastings, MI.
