Margaret M. Hollister (Zimmerman)
It is with tremendous sadness that the family of Margaret Mae Hollister, age 88, announces the gentle passing of their mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend died on Friday, November 30, 2018 at North Pointe Woods Pineview Assisted Living facility in Battle Creek, MI
She was born September 9, 1930 in Bronson, MI the daughter of Ray Zimmerman and Isabel (Huntley) Zimmerman.
Margaret was a Licensed Practical Nurse serving at Community, then Leila Hospitals and afterwards was a private duty nurse until 1976. She worked in nursing for 26 years.
She married Bernard Charles Hollister on Sept. 19, 1953 at the Emmett Street Missionary Church, they were married for 53 years, and he passed away in 2006.
She graduated from Hastings High School in 1949, then nursing school at Leila Hospital, graduating 1951. She was a member of the Michigan Licensed Practical Nurses Association, and active member of the Emmett Street Missionary Church where she organized the decorations weekly and took care of outside flowers; Deaconess, she and her husband were Sunday School secretaries for many years.
She loved gardening especially flower gardens, she was a Cub Scout Den Mother when the boys were younger, enjoyed golfing, bowling, camping with the family, she and husband loved spending time with their grandchildren
She is survived by two sons: Rowland Mark & Teresa Hollister of Dowling, MI; Dale Bernard & Diane Hollister of Lowell, MI; her brother: Edward A. "Bud" & Wanda Zimmerman of Dowling, MI; two sisters: Georgia Smith of Dowling, MI; Loraine & Charles Ogden of Joplin, Missouri; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother: Aaron Zimmerman (1986); a sister: Mary Jane Graw (2012).
Visitation will be held at the Bachman Hebble Funeral Service Monday, December 3, 2018 where the family will be present from 4:00 until 6:00 PM and on Tuesday from 12:30 until service time. Funeral services commemorating Margaret’s life will be Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at 1:30 PM with Pastor Tom Knight officiating in the Bachman Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow at the Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens in Emmett Township, MI. Memorial tributes may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
