Obituary for Beulah Vernicia Gray (Mitchell)

Beulah Vernicia Gray, 93, of Battle Creek, transitioned to be with Christ on April 3, 2018, at Evergreen Senior Care Center. She was born on August 19, 1922, in Battle Creek to Albert and Goldia (Burns) Mitchell. She married Nathaniel Pharr St. in 1939 from which two children, Nathaniel Pharr Jr. and Evon Pharr Elmore were born. Beulah moved to Detroit for a number of years then returned to Battle Creek. She later married Donald Gray in 1960. Beulah was a faithful member of Unity Christian Church where she served as church secretary; she was also instrumental in starting a Bible study group when she resided in Springview Towers. Beulah leaves to cherish her memory; a daughter, Evon Elmore of Battle Creek, two grandchildren, Anthony (Christine) Elmore of Grand Rapids, and Karen Elmore Woods of Battle Creek, five great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Beulah was preceded in death, by Nathaniel Pharr Sr, a son, Nathaniel Pharr Jr, brothers; Raymond and Harold Mitchell, sister, Emma Parchman and grandson Gregory Elmore. The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM (Noon) to 1:00 PM Saturday April 14th at Bachman Hebble Funeral Service, 223 N. Bedford Rd. A Memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society
