Glen A. “Smitty” Smith, age 85, of Battle Creek, died March 7, 2018 at Borgess Medical Center, Kalamazoo. Glen was born February 22, 1933 in Battle Creek to Leonard A. and Christine (Woods) Smith and was a lifelong resident. Glen attended Battle Creek Public Schools and had retired from the Battle Creek Equipment Company. He enjoyed working on engines of all varieties and was an active volunteer for several causes. Glen attended the Country Chapel United Methodist Church in Dowling. He is survived by his wife Deborah L. (Ferris) Smith, daughters, Glenna Bolinger of IN, Tina Smith of Battle Creek, sons, Mike Smith of IN, Lyle Smith of WI, Lenny Smith of Battle Creek, and Joseph (Lisa Garett) Smith of Hastings, eight Grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Glen was preceded in death by a daughter, Christine Crandall, a brother, Earl Smith, a sister, Marieda Rayburn, and his parents. A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, March 17th 2018 at the Country Chapel United Methodist Church, 9275 S. M-37, Dowling.
