Willie C. Shavers, age 70 of Battle Creek, died February 20, 2018, at Bronson Battle Creek. Willie was born October 12, 1947 in Jonesville, Louisiana to Harry and Elizabeth (Wilson) Shavers and came to Battle Creek in 1955. Willie was a 1966 graduate of Battle Creek Central High School and while there was an exceptional Basketball player and Swimmer. After high school Willie joined the United States Army and spent two tours of duty in Vietnam. During Willie’s second tour he was victim to shelling and was permanently disabled. He was awarded a Purple Heart. He was a good friend to know and always referred to people as “my friend”, he enjoyed socializing, sports of all kinds, especially football and UFC fighting. He loved a good meal and listening to his favorite music. Willie will be missed by his daughter, Dawn M. (Charles) Patterson, of Battle Creek, a son, Joseph Holmes of Greenville , Alabama, six grandchildren, sisters, Yvonne Mosely, and Vanessa (Kirk) Scott , brothers, Harry Shavers and Jessie Shavers all of Battle Creek, a special niece, Rahni Sweet and many other nieces and nephews. Willie was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Carla Jackson. The family will receive friends from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM Thursday, March 1st, at Bachman Hebble Funeral Service, 223 N.
