Obituary for Joseph Anthony Longo

Joseph Anthony Longo, 83, of Battle Creek, passed away Saturday, February 17, 2018 with his family by his side. He was born April 21, 1934 in Detroit, the son of Clyde and Mary (Baxter) Fitzgerald. Joe married Doris Freed on August 28, 1954 in Battle Creek. He worked as an electrician for Kellogg Co. for 25 years before his retirement. Joe had a love for collecting stamps and has done so since his childhood with his friend Bill Carr. He was a member of St. Jerome Catholic Church and their Men’s Club and the Kellogg 25 Year Club. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, and watching sports. He was an avid Tigers and MSU fan. Joe was affectionately known as "Bompie" by his family.
He is survived by his wife, Doris Longo; daughter, Laura Longo; grandchildren, Torry (Ed) Garcia, Tony Longo, and Mary (Michael, Jr.) Sloan; and great grandson, Alex.
He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Anthony Longo.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 5:00-7:00 PM with a rosary to begin at 7:00 PM at Bachman Hebble Funeral Service. Funeral services will be held at Bachman Hebble Funeral Service on Friday at 10:30 AM with Rev. Fr. Jose Haro of St. Jerome Catholic Church officiating. Burial will be at the Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens in Battle Creek, MI. Memorial tributes may be made to St. Jerome Catholic Church or Charity of One’s Choice.
