Virginia Genevieve Lang (Dowell)
Virginia Lang was born in Detroit, Michigan, September 14, 1920 to Arley Elizabeth Gray and Summers Roland Dowell. At the age of 97 she entered Heaven’s Gates on February 9, 2018. Virginia was the eldest of six siblings: Daniel Dowell, Roland Dowell, Donald Dowell, Joanne Ray, Lawrence Dowell and William Dowell. Virginia spent her childhood years living in Detroit, MI and Sacramento, CA. Eventually she moved to Battle Creek as a teenager in 1938 and graduated from Battle Creek Central in 1939. She was employed as a secretary for attorney Eleanor Kimball and also C.L. Urlich Real Estate in 1940. Employed at the Kellogg Co. from 1949-1959. Then employed at Defense Logistics Services Center (DLSC) at the Battle Creek Federal Center as a computer technician in 1962, retiring in 1982. A consumate mother and homemaker, Virginia was an excellent cook, baker and enjoyed preparing meals for family and friends. Virginian believed in living a healthy life style and enjoyed walking, exercising, music, dancing, bowling, traveling and gardening. She had a love for animals and enjoyed bird watching. Her favorite color was green. Her favorite sweets-anything chocolate. Here favorite state was Michigan for its beautiful trees and the four seasons, with her favorite season being spring. She enjoyed watching all things bloom and sprout during spring time. Virginia married John (Jack) D. Noud, December 1940 and from that union, they had four children. The marriage ended in divorce in 1967, and jack was deceased in 2003. She married Wayne I. Powers in 1968 and he was deceased in 1969, she married Donald F. Lang in 1978 and he was deceased in 2007. Virginia was preceded in death by her eldest daughter, Susan (Dean) Cobb. Her brothers: Daniel, Roland, Donald, Lawrence and William Dowell. She is survived by and leaves to cherish in her memories by her daughters: Sandra (Paul) White of Wellington, CO., and Pamela Dotson of Battle Creek, MI. A son William Noud of Utah. Stepdaughter, Joanne (Russ) Samson of Marshall, MI, Step son Steven Lang of Battle Creek, Her sister Joanne Ray of Lyons, MI . Also surviving are 9 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
