Obituary for James Lee Mullen

James Lee Mullen, 73, of Bellevue, passed away Sunday, February 4, 2018 at Bronson Methodist Hospital. He was born April 27, 1944 in Battle Creek, the son of James and Donna (Grant) Mullen. He married Clara Lahn on November 17, 1967 at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church. Jim worked for Clark Equipment for 20 plus years before starting his own company, Technical Arts. He was a long time member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church and was on the Board of Elders. Jim was an accomplished artist and loved working with his hands. He enjoyed painting, wood working, and inventing. He liked to read, especially westerns. Jim was fair, honest, and compassionate; with a remarkable sense of humor.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Clara; daughters, Laura (Joseph) Slenkai and Jennifer (John) Frahm; brothers, Pat (Sylvia) Mullen and Dennis Mullen; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Wyatt Frahm; and sister, Susan Mullen.
Visitation will be held Wednesday at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church from 10:00-11:30 AM with funeral services to follow at 11:30 AM with Rev. Larry Gorlitz officiating. Burial will be at the Newton Cemetery in Newton Township, MI. In lieu of flowers memorial tributes may be made to St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church.
