Obituary for Carroll Harry Jansen

Carroll Harry Jansen, 94, of Augusta, passed away at his home Wednesday, January 17, 2018. He was born August 5, 1923 in Battle Creek, the son of Harry and Hazelle (Hall) Jansen. Carroll was born on 48th street and lived his entire life on the same road. He married Lorraine Jordan on April 14, 1951. Carroll graduated from W.K. Kellogg Agricultural School. During and after school he farmed with his father until he was drafted into the Navy for two years. After an honorable discharge he returned to farming with his Uncle Fred. Carroll became an insurance adjustor for Southern Michigan Mutual in the late 60’s, while continuing to farm for a number of years. He served on several volunteer boards; B.C. Farm Bureau, MABC Hastings, Kalamazoo Farm Bureau, and Barry County 4-H Council. Carroll also served as a 4-H leader for many years and was a member of Bedford Bible Church.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Lorraine I. Jansen; children, Phillip Jansen, Connie Mumy, and Vicki Barton; grandchildren, Jordan (Jody Walton) Mumy, Clayton Mumy, Kylie & Kelsey Jansen, and Cydney Robinson; five great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and special family members, Doug, Stacey, Kayla, and Ty Pennock.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Christopher Jansen; son-in-law, Scott Mumy; and siblings, Lewis (Laura) Jansen and Natalie (Oakley) Bailey.
According to Carroll’s wishes cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held Thursday, January 25th from 5:00-8:00 PM at Bachman Hebble Funeral Service. A celebration of Carroll’s life will be held Friday at 11:00 AM at the Bedford Bible Church. A private family burial will be held at a later date. Memorial tributes may be made to the Bedford Bible Church Youth Group and Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan.
