Veda M. Jackson, age 86, of Battle Creek, died Tuesday, December 12, 2017, at Glenn Arbor Hospice Residence. Veda was born March 23, 1931, in Jackson, Michigan to John and Evelyn (Rigelman) Fredrickson. She attended Battle Creek Central High School. She lived many years in Flint, MI, before she moved to the Chicago area, then on to Phoenix and Tucson, Arizona. She moved back to Battle Creek six years ago to be closer to family. She was a grandmother that had a feisty spirit, a sparkle in her eye and an infectious laugh. She was a career woman before career women were the norm. She loved to bowl and was a league secretary for many leagues in both Chicago and Tucson. She had a passion for Bingo and spent many a day at the casino with people she held dear as her friends. She made friends easily and was always a favorite to spend time with. She will be sorely missed.
She is survived by her son-in-law, Rick Westphal of Battle Creek, MI, and her grandchildren: Annette (David) VeNard, Jenison, MI; Erick (Brigitte) VeNard, Benjamin, Michael and Victoria VeNard, Pensacola, Florida; Aaron VeNard, Zeeland, MI; Ryan (Tracey) Westphal, Timothy, Sarah, Lucas and Marcus Westphal, Grandville, MI ; Kyle (Linda) Westphal, Kaleb Westphal, Bethany (Daniel) Nowak, Cedar Springs, MI. Veda was preceded in death by her husband, William Jackson; daughters, Linda Westphal, Sandra Curtiss and Brenda Curtiss; and her grandson, Brad Westphal.
