Shirley Ann Hackler (Smith)
Shirley Ann Hackler, age 80, of Augusta, died Thursday November 2, 2017 at her home. Shirley was born September 10, 1937 in Battle Creek to Florence Jane Smith and has been a lifelong resident, while wintering in Florida. She married Ronald Hackler in 1969. Shirley had worked as a waitress and bartender at the former Buckingham Inn and the Sheraton Hotel as well as a cashier at the Augusta Shell Station. Shirley was a member of the Moose Lodge and enjoyed visiting the casino. She also enjoyed ceramics, bingo, listening to audio books and had bred Bull Terriers and Great Danes. Shirley is survived by her husband Ronald Hackler, daughters, Cindy (Tim) Miller of Battle Creek, and Vicki (Paul) Christensen of Kalamazoo, sons, Clifton “Pete” Johnson of Battle Creek, and Terry Johnson of Lehigh Acres, FL, five grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren, and a sister, Brenda (Clarence) Goswellin of Battle Creek. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Jason Duryea and her mother and step father, Florence and Glen McKeever.
