Obituary for James Robert Parsons

James Robert Parsons, 62, of Springfield, passed away Monday, October 23, 2017 at Bronson Battle Creek. He was born July 31, 1955 in Sault Ste. Marie, MI the son of James Francis and Beatrice (Denning) Parsons. Jim was a graduate of Lakeview High School class of 1974. He served in the US Navy from 1973-1985. While in the Navy Jim served as an Electronic Technician. He toured aboard the USS California and was one of the first crews to board the USS Carl Vincent. After the Navy Jim returned home to MI and worked several jobs as a maintenance supervisor; Denso, Interbake Foods, Wideman Gordon, Lear, and Auvil Body Shop. Most recently Jim has been employed by Musashi Auto Parts for almost 4 years as a machine operator. He was a member of the VFW Post# 7956 in Augusta. Jim’s hobbies included painting, fixing computers, and working on old cars. He loved going down to his best friends, Tom Cole’s, body shop in Battle Creek and fixing cars. He enjoyed watching NASCAR, especially Dale Earnhardt, Sr., and was a Detroit Lions and MSU fan. Jim was a kind and caring man. He was a humble soul who would do anything to help anyone in need. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren. He adored his children, grandchildren, and family and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his children, Bradley (Becca) Parsons, Amberleigh (Juan) Mercado, Karalee Parsons, Jamie (Nathan) Alvarez, Scott Parsons, and Dakota Parsons; sibling, Cheryll (Terry) Thomas, Lynn (Bruce) Manson, Thomas Parsons, and Tammy (Mark) Cramer; 20 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Richard and Robert Parsons; and a nephew, Robert Parsons.
Visitation will be held Friday, October 27, 2017 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Bachman Hebble Funeral Service. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1:00 PM at Bachman Hebble Funeral Service. Memorial tributes may be made to the VFW Post# 7956 in Augusta.
