Obituary for Jane Elizabeth Werner

Jane Elizabeth Werner, 78, of Battle Creek, passed away Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at Glenn Arbor Hospice Residence in Battle Creek. She was born June 27, 1938 in Londonderry, NH the daughter of John and Yvonne (Perry) Lockwood. Jane married Andrew Werner on December 21, 1957 in Battle Creek. Together they were blessed with three children. Andy and Jane were members of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #299 in Battle Creek. Jane went to work a short time at Ashley Dairy to help pay for a pool that she spent many summers watching people grow up learning to swim in and also enjoying it herself. She enjoyed many hobbies from ice skating, ceramics, bowling, to swimming, and playing bunkel with her girlfriends. Jane had a passion for covered bridges, her bird feeders, and spent years collecting light houses. She enjoyed short trips to Saugatuck, Shipshewana, and traveling back home to New Hampshire by car or train. Nena, as everyone called her, had a huge heart, contagious laugh, and welcoming personality that will be dearly missed, but never forgotten. Nena enjoyed cooking for family and friends and had a love for animals that couldn't be denied by every stray she took in over the years. Her biggest love was the one she held for her family. Playing pranks on each other from day one, Andy and Jane were more in love with each passing day. It could be seen in their eyes. Jane's greatest blessings in life were her kids, grandkids and great grand babies.
She is survived by her husband, Andy; children, Andrew, Jr., Candy and Joe Werner; siblings, John (Henriette) Lockwood, Carol (Moe) Dube, and Henry (Sue) Lockwood; grandchildren, Nickolas (Krystal) Fischer, Brandon Fischer, Melissa (Gary) Lamew, and Justin (Heyliquen) Werner; great grandchildren, Devin Fischer, Bryson Lamew, Addisyn Lamew, Doutzen Werner and Raelynn Werner; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Gayle Crozier.
