Dennis Lee Olmstead, age 62, of Battle Creek, died Wednesday May 3, 2017 at Bronson Battle Creek. Dennis was born March 26, 1955 in Battle Creek, to Charles and Sadie Olmstead. He was a graduate of Pennfield High School and received an Associate Degree from Kellogg Community College. Dennis served in the US Army from 1974 until his discharge in 1977. Denny had owned and operated Denny’s Carpet Service for over Thirty years. He enjoyed softball, bowling, bonfires, playing chess, watching sports on television and was an avid reader. Denny was known for his good nature and quick to make friends. He will be remembered most for his sense of humor, honesty and generosity. Denny is survived by his daughter, Rachel Olmstead of Battle Creek, a son, Jacob (Emily) Olmstead, of Zeeland, a stepson, Josh Nelson, Seven grandchildren, Charlotte, Andrew, Tiffany, Alexander, Brinley, Braxton, and Adalyn Olmstead, brothers, Randy Olmstead and Rod (Deedee) Olmstead both of Battle Creek, sisters, Shirley Rench and Sandy Olmstead, both of Battle Creek, and a sister in law, Wendy Olmstead of Battle Creek. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Mike Olmstead, a brother, Charles Olmstead and an infant sister Jeannie Olmstead.
