Darlene Ann Ivens, age 76, of Battle Creek, passed away, Tuesday April 25, 2017 at Bronson Battle Creek. Darlene was born April 20, 1941 in Battle Creek, to Carl and Earlene (Naramore) Bowen and was a lifelong resident. She graduated in 1959 from Springfield High School and had been employed by Interbake Foods for 10 years, Sally’s Hallmark, and owned and operated “Chubb’s” daycare for several years. She married Donald K Ivens Sr. in 1963. Darlene was a member of Lakeside Baptist Church, and had been a member of the Level Park PTA and was a Bluebird Leader. Darlene loved to going to garage sales, fishing, crafting ceramics with her friends, but her true passion was raising children and helping others. Darlene is survived by her husband Donald K. Ivens Sr., daughters, Darla James , of Hickory Corners, Sara Ivens of Richland, Michigan, a son, Jody (Connie) Ivens of Fishers, Indiana , her father Carl Bowen of Delton, Michigan, step daughter, Deborah (Jack) Reeves, of Lincoln Park, Illinois, a stepson, Donald (Karen) Ivens, of Battle Creek, 12 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren, sisters, Diana Decker , of Corpus Christie, Texas , and Bonnie (William) Myers, of Delton , Michigan. She was preceded in death by her mother, Earlene Bowen and a brother, Carl Bowen, Jr. A memorial service will be held 4:00 PM Wednesday , at the Lakeside Baptist Church, 15025 North Uldriks Dr. Memorials may be given to the American Kidney Foundation or Evergreen Manor, patient activities.
