Obituary for Jack DeWitt Ryan





Jack D. Ryan Sr., age 77, of Battle Creek, died Friday March 10, 2017 at the Oaks at Northpoint Woods. Jack was born September 6, 1939 in Tennessee, to Ross and Pearl (Wright) Ryan and came to Battle Creek at the age of 15. Jack was a self-employed carpenter, and was able to do electrical wiring, plumbing and was a member of the Carpenters Union #525. Jack worked at his trade for many years until his retirement in 1997. Jack enjoyed woodworking projects, fishing in northern Michigan and in younger days enjoyed bowling in a league for Associated Construction. Jack is survived by his son, Jack D. (Pamela) Ryan Jr. of Delton, his wife, Norma Jean (Brininstool) Ryan of Battle Creek. Grandchildren, Daniel (Patricia) Ryan and Samantha Lynn Ryan , both of Battle Creek , and Dustin Jack Ryan, of Richland, WA., great grandchildren, Julian, Jayden and Jack Ryan, a sister, Shelby Jean (Ed) Cowham ,brothers, Clay Ryan, Brooks(Penny) Ryan and Douglas (Nancy) Ryan, all of Battle Creek. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Pearl and Ross Ryan, a daughter,Denise Ryan, a sister, Carol Hinton, and brothers, Claude, Jerry , Keith, and Tony Ryan. A memorial service will be held 1:00 PM Friday at the Memorial Park Cemetery Chapel, 2435 W. Territorial Rd. Memorials may be given to the Oaks at Northpoint Woods.
