Vonnie Ruth Anderson, 88, of Battle Creek, passed away Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at Lakeview Senior Living. She was born January 8, 1929 in Harlan, KY the daughter of John Lafayette-Daniel and Lillie Mae Daniel. She married the late Arden Anderson on May 22, 1954 in Battle Creek. Vonnie went through high school in Harlan before moving to West Virginia to work in a music store. There, she took a Civil Service exam and passed it enabling her to go to Washington DC to work at the Pentagon. Later, she transferred to the Headquarters at Fort Custer, Michigan She worked in quality control for the Kellogg Co. and retired after 35 years of service. Vonnie enjoyed attending Church Services and Bible Studies at Lakeview Senior Living. She was a member of Kellogg's 25 Year Club. Vonnie's greatest joy was spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also enjoyed traveling, gardening, boating and playing cards.
Vonnie is survived by her children, Roger Anderson and Debbie Kelley; grandchildren, Christina Case (Robert), Amber Dellar (Ron), Terri Allabaugh (Peter), Javid Kelley, Aaron Kelley and Rowian Kelley; great grandchildren, Andrea and Tiffany Case, Lydia, Rachel, Seth and Mark Allabaugh, Reagan and Owen Dellar and Cooper MacAuley; and many nieces and nephews.
Vonnie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Arden; granddaughter, Kimberly Andeson-Lewis; and 11 siblings.
Visitation will be held Sunday, March 19, 2017 from 4:00-6:00 PM at Bachman Hebble Funeral Service. Committal services will be held Monday, March 20, 2017 at 12:00 PM at the Fort Custer National Cemetery. Burial will be at the Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, MI. Memorial tributes may be made to Kalamazoo Christian School.
