Obituary for Tonya Sue Coffman

Tonya Sue Coffman
Tonya Sue Coffman, 62, of Battle Creek, passed away Saturday, March 4, 2017 at her home. She was born May 12, 1954 in Battle Creek, the daughter of Donald Edward and Edna Irene (Wolf) Coffman. Tonya graduated from Battle Central High School class of 1972. During her school years she was very involved in her Marching Band, playing the clarinet. After high school Tonya worked for a couple factories before landing a job with Post Cereals. Tonya retired from Post after 38 years of service as a Lab Technician. She was a member and a previous officer of the Post 25 Year Club. She bowled for many years on Post's bowling leagues. Tonya loved volunteering her time to represent Post with their characters, parades, Zoo Boo's, and other major events. She was a seasonal camper at Tri-Lake in Marshall. She loved to travel; taking trips to Las Vegas, Alaska, Hawaii, and several cruises. Tonya made sure that she planned a big trip every other year for her and Mathew and often took her nephews and niece. She was an amazing crafter from her scrapbooks to her stamps and of course her beautiful handmade cards that everyone looked forward to receiving. She never met a stranger, her laugh was obnoxiously wonderful, and she had the biggest kindness heart. She put her all in to being a mother. She made sure she was involved in boosters, athletics, and any activities when it came to her son, Matthew. Tonya even immersed herself in her nephews and niece lives just the same and was even a Den Mother in Cub Scouts for her nephew. She crotched beautiful blankets and gifted them to many. She loved the neighborhood she lived in and they all took care of each other. Her family and her friends were everything to her, especially her son, Matthew.
She is survived by son, Matthew Coffman; father, Donald; sisters, Sherri Coffman and Tammi Morgan; and nephews, Dion and Joseph (Ashley) Sharrar and Austin Morgan; niece, Taylor Morgan; and great niece, Danica Sharrar.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Edna (Coffman) Boyce and step-father, Bob Boyce.
Visitation will be held Friday from 1:00-3:00 PM and from 5:00-8:00 PM at Bachman Hebble Funeral Service. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11:00 AM at the St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church with Pastor Larry Gorlitz officiating. Burial will be at the Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens in Battle Creek, MI. Memorial tributes may be made to Redemption Lutheran Church.
