Obituary for Leo Dell Perry Jr.

Leo Dell Perry Jr.

Mr. Leo Dell Perry, Jr., 77, peacefully departed this life at his residence on December 11, 2016. The son of Leo and Ruby E. (Kerr) Perry was born June 12, 1939 in Battle Creek, Michigan. Mr. Perry attended Battle Creek Public Schools. He received Christ at an early age while attending the family church, Upton Avenue Original Church of God and was baptized by the late Bishop Harold Speights. Leo was a member of Freedom Covenant Fellowship International where Ricky D. Perry is Senior Pastor.
Leo, being left handed, was naturally gifted in many things, however, in the area of sports he could master any sport he put his mind to, and he was a challenging man with expertise, character, charisma, and love who touched many lives. He was employed by Stan Lassen auto dealership, the Battle Creek V A Medical Center, and Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo, Michigan retiring from Borgess in 1981. Leo enjoyed traveling with his son Yancy, playing dominoes, visiting with his friends, taking long walks, music, watch reruns of "Sanford and Son" and old western movies.
Leo loved his family and was very proud of them. He was preceded in death by his parents: Leo and Ruby (Kerr) Perry, grandparents: Merland Kerr, Dennis and Georgia Vaughn; two sisters: Ann Florine Perry-Davis; Darlinda B. Perry-Walker; one brother: Jackie D. Williams; and a set of infant twin sons: Robin and Rodney Perry.
Reflecting on Leo's life with tender fondness and many precious memories are his former wife: Shirley Perry-Walker; two daughters: Rosalind (Orlando) Threatt of Lansing, MI; and Tina Menser of Kalamazoo, MI; five sons: Jamal Perry, Kerry Perry, and Yancy Kerr all of Battle Creek; Troy Barlow of Kincheloe, MI; and Charles Johnson of Kalamazoo, MI.; five sisters: Gloria (Walter) Hall; Georgia L. Howard; Dianna (Michael) Eubanks; Ruby Val (Creighton) Mabry; and Tena (Anthony) Moss; three brothers: Ricky (Zena) Perry; Dennis (Autumn) Perry; Kim L. Perry all of Battle Creek, MI and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
Visitation will be held at the Bachman Hebble Funeral Service on Sunday, December 18, 2016 where the family will be present from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM. Funeral services commemorating Leo Perry, Jr. life will be celebrated at 12:00 Noon Monday December 19, 2016 in the Bachman Funeral Chapel with Bishop Hugh D. Smith, Jr. of the Embassy Covenant Church International of Troy, MI officiating. Burial will follow at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Battle Creek, MI.
