Obituary for Thomas V. Baker






Thomas V. Baker, age 84, of Battle Creek, died Sunday December 11th, 2016 at the Bronson at Home Hospice Residence. Tom was born June 5, 1932 in Monroe, Michigan to Robert and Anona (Nash) Baker. Tom served in the Air Force for 23 years, including tours of duty in Korea and Vietnam. He married the former Gerry A. Shumway on July 19, 1963. Tom was a Master Electrician and had been employed by the C & J Electric Co. and the former Leila Hospital for over 20 years retiring in 1997. Tom was a member of the Maple Grange and the Cunningham Acres; he enjoyed dancing and country music and had often attended Dulcimer Festivals. Tom is survived by his wife Gerry, daughters, Gerry B. (Karl) Pallada, of Pullman, Mi, Billie Jo (Gary) Farris of Ft. Mohave, AZ, and Rebecca K. (Robert) Hughes, of Union City, MI., a son, Thomas A. Baker, of Battle Creek, 12 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren, a brother, Edward (Marti) Baker, of Garrettsville, OH. Tom was preceded in death by sisters, Avalyn and Marcie, brothers, Robert, Richard and Harry.
