Obituary for
Arthur "Bob" Robert Boyce
Arthur Robert "Bob" Boyce age 81 passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday morning, November 18, 2016. Bob was born to Richard R. and Adelaid Wilkinson Boyce on March 13, 1935 in Marshall, Michigan. He graduated in 1954 from Battle Creek Central High School.
Bob joined the U. S. Marine Corps and served three years in Japan, Okinawa and in Quantico, Virginia where he met and married Alice G. Dole in 1957.
Upon his honorable discharge he began a 37 year career at the United State Postal Service as a clerk/carrier; he retired in 1991 as a Postmaster at the Drake and Main Street post office in Kalamazoo. He was a member of the American Legion George A. Custer Post 54, Balsa Bee’s Radio Control Aircraft Club, the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, and a lifetime member of the Kalamazoo Power and Sailing Squadron. He enjoyed power boating and Scuba Diving on Lake Michigan. He had his aircraft pilot’s license since 1976.
Alice passed away in 1989 and he married Edna Coffman, Edna passed away in 2006. He is survived by his wife Janet G. Connelly, whom he married in Newton Township on June 29, 2007; daughters, Tonya Coffman of Battle Creek, Sherri Coffman of Marshall, Tammi Morgan and Barbara (David) Walters, both of Battle Creek, a son, Mark Connelly of Lake, Michigan a sister: Beverly Hill of Battle Creek and a brother-in-law: Vergil Gochgoff of Tennessee, seven grandchildren, one great granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents. The family will receive friends from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM Monday at the Redemption Lutheran Church, 2450 West Michigan Ave. Funeral services will be held 12:00 PM noon, Monday at the Church, Pastor Karl N. Strenge, officiating. Interment to follow at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be given to the Redemption Lutheran Church, Building Fund.
