Obituary for Charles Raymond Lemish

Charles Raymond Lemish, 92, of Battle Creek, passed away Monday, October 24, 2016 at The Oaks at Northpointe Woods. He was born April 17, 1924 in Battle Creek, the son of Theodore and Theresa (Schenher) Lemish. Chuck served in the US Army during WWII. He married Isabel “Mary” Mann on July 21, 1951 in Battle Creek. Chuck retired from Kellogg Co. after 40 plus years of service. He shared a special bond and camaraderie with his army buddies, in the Army Corp of Engineers, Company B, and 554th HV BN. In 1994 they celebrated their 50th reunion and, all being from Battle Creek, they met each June to share war stories and friendship. Chuck loved vegetable gardening, spending time at his lake cottage, playing pool, and playing pinball. He enjoyed watching his old sitcoms. Chuck's greatest joy was spending time with his family. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
He is survived by his children, Theresa (Gregory) Turley, Michael (Sally) Lemish, and Mary (Atlee) McFellin; 5 grandchildren; and several great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary; and seven siblings.
Visitation will be held at Bachman Hebble Funeral Service on Thursday from 5:00-8:00 PM with a rosary at 7:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday at 10:30 AM at St. Jerome Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Christopher Ankley officiating
Burial will be at the Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, MI. Memorial tributes may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church.
