Carroll J. Ayers, age 75, of Battle Creek, died Wednesday, August 24th 2016, at Bronson Battle Creek. Carroll was born November 8, 1940 in Kalamazoo, to Donald and Margaret (Burchett) Hamilton and was raised in Otsego. Carroll was a 1957graduate of Otsego High School and Wright Beauty Academy. She married Ronald Ayers on November 21, 1959. The marriage ended in divorce in 1981. Carroll was a long time resident of Delton and had been employed by the Delton – Kellogg Schools as a teacher’s aide. Carroll was also employed McCamly Hotel and enjoyed meeting famous people when they came to perform; she also worked as a clerk at the Evergreen Manor and Senior Care Center, retiring in 2008. Carroll enjoyed flower gardening, reading, jigsaw puzzles and loved animals. Carroll was survived by a daughter, Deborah (Mike) Ayers-McCarty of Battle Creek, a son, Daniel (Debbie) Ayers, of Ventura, California, four grandsons, Zack and Cody McCarty and Cameron and Jake Ayers, great grandchildren, Hayden and Kellan McCarty. Carroll was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Mary Lou Price and Dorothy Veldt, and a brother, Jack Hamilton.
