Obituary for Carolyn J. Knowles-Parker (Knowles)

Carolyn J. Knowles-Parker, 80, of Richland passed away surrounded by loved ones on Monday, January 18, 2016. She was born November 6, 1935 in Detroit, the daughter of Warren and Jean (Eberts) Knowles. Over the years Carolyn had worked for Eaton’s Corp., Sears, Forrest Hills Apt., and even owned and operated a deli when she lived in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Her deli was called the “Flight Deck Deli” and her homemade cinnamon rolls were second to none! In her earlier years, Carolyn enjoyed gardening, maintaining flowers, playing scrabble, and doing crossword puzzles. She was an avid Tigers fan and loved to travel to the UP, even if it was just to grab a bite to eat or to get some fudge. She enjoyed going to the casino and traveled to Las Vegas numerous times over the years. She loved her family and grandchildren with all of her heart and soul. Carolyn cherished her time spent with her daughters, especially their “girl’s night out”. She was truly a selfless person that had a huge heart.
She is survived by her daughters, Cindy (Michael) Wenzler and Julie (Michael) Dezotell; siblings, Richard (Marilyn) Knowles and Suzanne (Paul) Kintopf; grandchildren, Mara (Brad) Russell, Brett (Karlie Bowman) Wenzler, Michael Dezotell, and Ashley (Brian Hudson) Dezotell; great grandchildren, Isabella, Madisyn, Emma and Ellie Hudson; special friend, George Finney; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; second husband, Frank Hunter; and great granddaughter, Anna Mae Russell.
Visitation will be held Saturday from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Bachman Hebble Funeral Service with a memorial service to follow at 1:00 PM with Pastor David Blok officiating. Memorial tributes may be made to the American Cancer Society.
