Randy B. Yates, age 53, of Battle Creek, died Monday November 30, 2015 at Bronson Battle Creek. Randy was born June 28, 1962 in Battle Creek, to Malcolm and Laura (Morgan) Yates. Randy was a 1980 graduate of Battle Creek Central High School and received his Associates degree in criminal justice from Kellogg Community College. He continued his education at Sienna Heights University awarded both a Bachelor and Master’s degrees in Criminal Justice. Randy had been employed by the Bedford Rescue Squad; he worked as a police officer for Prairieville, Delton, and Pennfield Township Police departments. He served as Chief of Police for the Woodland Township Police Department. Randy had served as a 911 dispatcher for the City of Grand Rapids and Barry County. He currently was employed by the State of Michigan’s Department of Human Services. Randy is survived by his mother, Laura M. Yates, a sister, Hilda (Dan) Harris, of Battle Creek and many family members. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 11:00AM at the Bachman Hebble Funeral Service, 223 N. Bedford Rd.
