Guy A. Trayer, age 77, of Battle Creek, died Monday November 2, 2015 at Bronson Methodist Hospital, Kalamazoo. Guy was born May 29, 1938 in Kalamazoo, to Arthur and Anne (VanDenBerg) Trayer. Guy came to Battle Creek as a teenager and graduated from Lakeview High School in 1956. He retired from Clark Equipment Co. after 31 years, retiring in 1987. Guy remained active after his retirement and worked for Dunn Construction Co., was head of maintenance at the Heritage Tower and has worked part time for the past 10 years at Lakeview Hardware. Guy’s greatest joy came from spending time with his loving family. He also enjoyed golf, league bowling, and was a great handyman. Guy is survived by his wife of 55 years, the former Darlene Hillyer, a daughter, Tiffany (Cameron) LaPlante, of Battle Creek, sons, Terry Trayer, of Battle Creek and Todd (Elisa) Trayer of Roanoke, Virginia, 10 grandchildren and six great grandchildren, and a brother, Dennis Trayer of Bellevue. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Gilbert Trayer. The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM Friday November 6th, at the Bachman Hebble Funeral Service, 223 N. Bedford Rd. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Saturday November 7th, at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the Battle Creek Area Catholic Schools.
