Loraine Roberson
Loraine Roberson, age 82, of Battle Creek, passed away Saturday October 24, 2015 at Bronson Battle Creek Hospital surrounded by family and friends. She was born June 24, 1933 in Scotts Mississippi. She is the daughter of the late Charlie Robinson and Ozella (Scott) Robinson. She lived in Memphis Tennessee until moving to Battle Creek Michigan in 1972. She was employed at Drakes Salad Shop in Memphis Tennessee and in Michigan she worked at Interbake Foods, Clark Equipment, and finally retiring from the Veterans Administration Medical Center as a Food Service Worker after 17 years of service on April 3, 1998. She is survived by a son Theotis (Mevelyn) Robinson of Memphis Tennessee and a daughter Ocella Cummings of Battle Creek Michigan. Sisters Teressie Archie of Memphis Tennessee and Adora Johnson of Battle Creek Michigan. Eight grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, and 2 great, great grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews and her lifelong companion of 43 years Jeff Jones. She was preceded in death by a son Eddie Roberson, three brothers Leroy Stephenson, Charlie Robinson, and Sam Robinson; two sisters Hester Carter and Anna Carter; two great grandsons Dominic Robinson-Nicholson and Justin Robinson. Before becoming ill, she was an active member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church and was a member of the Mother’s Board. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and spending time with her beloved family.
