Obituary for
Rudy James Farkas
Rudy J. Farkas, age 82, of Johnstown Township, died Friday July 31, 2015 at his home. Rudy was born June 19, 1933 in Fredericktown, Pennsylvania and came to Battle Creek in 1966 from Detroit. Rudy was a graduate of Jefferson High School in Jefferson, PA and served in the US Army. He married the former Louise McDaniel in 1958 in Clarksville, PA. Rudy had been employed by the Ford Motor Co. and retired in 1988 after 33 years with the Sun Refining and Marketing Co. (Sunoco). He then became a partner in the United Petroleum Equipment Co. in Battle Creek until 1997. Rudy was a member of the Croatian Fraternal Union; he enjoyed polka music and was a talented handyman, mathematical and mechanical problem solver. Rudy is survived by his wife of 57 years, Louise, brother, Tom (Mickey) of Arizona, sister, Juliann “Cookie” Kinsell of Ohio, a daughter, Margaret (Ken) Hillman of Jackson, sons, Adam J. and Carl (Gina), both of Battle Creek, and four grandchildren. Rudy was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Sr. and Helen of Clarksville, PA, brothers, Lawrence “Lolly” (Fran) of Florida and Joseph Jr. (Helen) of Ohio, and a son, Eric “Sharkey” Farkas.
