Obituary for Richard C. "Dick" Tupper

Richard C. Tupper, 83, of Battle Creek, passed away Sunday, July 19, 2015 at Bronson at Home Hospice. He was born October 5, 1931 in Kalamazoo, the son of Fred and Alice (Walters) Tupper. Dick graduated from Battle Creek Central High School. He married Helen Mandarino on February 14, 1953 in Battle Creek. Dick was an Eagle Scout and an avid member of the Lions Club, holding the title of District Governor in 1968. He was co-owner of Frontenac Winery in Paw Paw. Dick was instrumental in developing the Lakeview Lions Club and the Braille Program at Jackson State Prison. He loved to paint and enjoyed woodworking with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Helen; sons, Richard Geovanni (Jamie) Tupper and Robert Clyde (Kazzi) Tupper; grandchildren, Jason (Rachel) Tupper, Noelle (Ryan) Downs, Danielle (Reid) McCowan, Christopher (Jen) Tupper, Megan (Paul) Duerr, Justin (April) Kipp, Karli (Zach) Rutherford, and Bailey Tupper; 6 great grandchildren, with two on the way; sister-in-law, Marilyn Tupper; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, George Tupper.
Visitation will be held Friday from 2:00-4:00 PM and 6:00-8:00 PM with a Rosary at 7:00 PM at Bachman Hebble Funeral Service. A mass of Christian burial will be held Saturday at 11:00 AM at St. Jerome Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Ben Huynh officiating. Burial will be at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Battle Creek, MI.
