Jaqueline Lou Ayers
Jacqueline Lou Ayers, 86, of Battle Creek, passed away Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at Bronson at Home Hospice. She was born February 16, 1929 in Battle Creek, the daughter of Benjamin and Agnes (Allison) Ashley. She married the late Kenneth Leon Ayers on October 26, 1963 in Battle Creek. She graduated from Battle Creek Central High School in 1947 and worked for Michigan National Bank, Brown Jug Restaurant, Clark’s Equipment and Cole’s Men’s Store in Battle Creek. She also spent many years in East LeRoy, Michigan managing a farming business and raising 8 children. In her retirement, she ran a food truck (Jackie’s Food-O-Rama) and organized entertainment shows and parties at their winter home in Sebring, Florida. She also volunteered with many organizations; include the Leila Follies in the Costume Department. She enjoyed playing cards, bowling, sewing, golf, and camping. Over the years, Jackie and husband Ken were members of the Elks & Moose Lodge, and TTCM Camping Club. She was also involved with many school organizations/actives while her children attended Athens Area Schools in Athens, Michigan.
She is survived by her children, Stephen Mulder, Susan (Mike) Burgett, Peter (Vickie) Mulder, Kathleen (Babatunde) Ayers, and Jeff Ayers; step-children, Susan Ayers, Russell Ayers and Sheila (Dennis) Lane; 23 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; and siblings, George Ashley, Tom Ashley, and Sharon Dack.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, May 16, 2015 at 12:00 PM at Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial tributes may be made to American Stroke Association (www.strokeassociation.org).
