It is with tremendous sadness that the family of Mavolyn Loraine Adams, age 94, of Battle Creek, MI, announces the passing of our dear mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend on died Monday morning, January 19, 2015 at Laurels of Bedford. Mavolyn fought a brave battle against Alzheimer’s.
She was born February 29, 1920 in Battle Creek, MI the daughter of Charles H. Carter and Clara (McGee) Carter.
Mavolyn was a lifelong Battle Creek resident attending Bedford Elementary School and graduated from Battle Creek Central High School.
She was a homemaker most of her life, but had previously worked at Carter's Flower Shop in Battle Creek which was owned by her grandparents. She also helped her parents doing chores around their farm in Bedford. Mavolyn enjoyed her flower gardens, ceramics, embroidery, crossword puzzles, and watching her favorite television programs.
She was previously married to Harold W. Adams; however their marriage ended in divorce and Harold passed away on January 11, 2012.
She is survived by three daughters: Juanita M. Blain of Battle Creek, MI; SeDonna C. Mason of Wichita, KS; Claralyn A. & Dennis Smith of Battle Creek, MI; her son: Robert L. Adams of Battle Creek, MI; five Grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren.
Mavolyn was preceded in death by her parents, her sister: SeDonna Carter; infant twins, her daughter: Juanita Adams; and her husband Harold Adams.
Visitation will be held at Bachman Hebble Funeral Service on Thursday, January 22, 2015 from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM. The graveside funeral services will be held Friday, January 23, 2015 at 1:00PM at the Bedford Cemetery with Pastor Kevin McCarty of the Bedford Bible Church officiating. Burial will be at the Bedford Cemetery. Memorial tributes may be made to: Alzheimer’s Association; envelopes available at the funeral home.
