Frederick “Fred” E. Green, age 51, of Rhoadesville, Virginia, died Wednesday October 22, 2014 at his home. Fred was born March 29, 1963 in Kalamazoo, Michigan to Frederick J. and Mary L. (Akers) Green. Fred joined the US Air Force following high school and served for 20 years, retiring in 2012. Fred was serving at the Pentagon during the attacks on September 11, 2001. He had traveled the world with the Air Force and was serving as communications officer for the Joint Chiefs of Staff at his retirement. Fred was a member of the MAAF. Fred is survived by his wife, the former Penny Parsons, a daughter, Megan E. Green, a son, Nathaniel J. Green, both of Rhoadesville, VA, a sister, Susan (Tom) Clark, of Auburn Hills, MI, brothers, Jonathan (Bonnie) Green of Holland, MI, Robert Green of Kalamazoo, and Steven (Janet) Green, of Portage, MI. Fred was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, William Green. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM Thursday at the Bachman Hebble Funeral Service, 223 N. Bedford Rd.
