It is with tremendous sadness that the family of Shyla Ann Jarrell, age 16, announces the passing of our dear niece, daughter, granddaughter, cousin and friend on Sunday, July 7, 2013 at Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice Residence in Battle Creek, MI. Shyla had been very courageous with her battle against Cystic Fibrosis.
She was born March 30, 1997 in Marshall, MI the daughter of Shawn Jarrell and Teresa Waterman; and they both survive.
Shyla was an Athens area student in the home-bound program and she was in the eighth grade.
Shyla is survived by her mother: Teresa Waterman of Cottageville, SC; her father Shawn Jarrell of Marshall, MI; her uncle and aunt: Thomas & Tonya Ackerman of Athens, MI; and Deano & Terri Waterman of Marshall, MI; three brothers: Christopher Jarrell of Olivet, MI; Samuel Jarrell of Mendon, MI; Andrew Gruber of Cottageville, SC; two sisters: Rebecca Waterman of Athens, MI; Melanie Jarrell of Mendon, MI; many cousins; and grandparents: Marleen Stauffer of Athens, MI; Bill & Ethel Fundaugh of Battle Creek, MI; and Dorothy & Bruce Waterman of Cottageville, SC.
She was preceded in death by her grandfather: Green Jarrell, Jr.; two uncles: Bobby Wade and Jerry Wade; and two great grandmothers: Ila Easterlin and Ollie Turner; and great grandparents: Jim & Delores Hall.
She loved music, social media, loved to draw, loved the scary movies, and loved anything with skulls. She had attended Wakeshma Community Church.
Visitation will be held at the Bachman Hebble Funeral Service on Friday, July 19, 2013 where the family will be present from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM. A Memorial Service commemorating the life of Shyla Jarrell will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2013 at 10:30 AM in the Bachman Funeral Chapel with Pastor David Mackaluso officiating.
Cremation has been conducted and the cremains will be inurned after the service at Burr Oak Cemetery, Athens, MI. Memorial tributes may be made to: Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice Residence or Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
