David was born on February 13, 1936 in Battle Creek to Robert and Eva (Rice) VanVleet Sr. and lived in Battle Creek all of his life. He attended Pennfield and been employed by Calhoun Auto Parts, Battle Creek Feed and Grain, Marshall Iron and Metal and Steve's Auto Wrecker. David was a member of the Salvation Army. He is survived by his brother, Robert (Donna) VanVleet of Bronson, Gerald (Shirley) VanVleet of Charlotte and a sister Ruby VanVleet of Bronson. He was preceded in death by his wife Violet in 2011, his parents, and a brother Ronald.
