Donald Erwin Rogers, age 76, of Battle Creek, died May 22, 2012 at the Laurels of Bedford. Don was born on December 25, 1935 in Battle Creek, to Donald and Elizabeth (Goss) Rogers. Don graduated from Pennfield High School and served in the United States Marine Corp. Don married the former Janet Berry in 1977. He was employed as a Master Mechanic at Burns Service Station on the corner of Capital Ave SW and East Territorial Rd., He later worked for the City of Battle Creek, as a mechanic. His principal job was keeping the police department squad cars in running order. He retired in 2000 after 12 years of service. Don enjoyed fishing, auto racing, reading, and watching western movies. He is survived by his wife, Janet, daughters, Katherine (Steve) Belote, of Texas, Shelley Scheafer of South Dakota, Sharon Arents of Texas, Danielle Rogers of Arizona, a son , David (Brenda) Rogers of Oklahoma, 20 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren. step children, Peggy Walker of Battle Creek, Linda Mingle of Texas, Christina Jo Williams of Arlington, VA, and Amy Bicknell of Sherwood, step sons, James Jordan of Hickory Corners and Alan Jordan of Battle Creek, a sister Sandra Kay Rogers of Battle Creek, brothers, James (Debbie) Rogers of Battle Creek, William (Linda) Rogers of Climax, and Leon (Frances) Rogers of Bellevue. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Mary Weist.
