Obituary for Jane Ellis

F. Jane Ellis, 85, of Springfield, passed away Easter morning, April 8, 2012 (George’s birth-date). She was born August 10, 1926 in Massac City, IL the daughter of Wayne and Ina Freeda (Worsham) McHenry. Jane married George E. Ellis on November 16, 1947 in Jackson, MI and he preceded her in death on October 14, 2007. Jane was a talented artist working in many mediums and crafts. She worked most recently with Swonk’s Flower Shop as a designer and Sales. The Ellis family was the original owner of MarCreek Kennels. Jane was a member of the Wolverine German Shepherd Dog Club, Battle Creek Kennel Club, and she originated the 4-H Canine Cadets. She created “First Choice” in Urbandale in the 80’s. She enjoyed golf and was a member of Riverside Country Club. Jane was raised in Jackson and the family also lived in Marshall and Battle Creek.
Jane is survived by her children, Sherry L. Pero, Janet M. (Michael) Lowder, and Randy W. Ellis, all of Battle Creek; granddaughters, Stacey Holladay, Shana Pero, Melissa (Tim) Miller and Melissa Wagner; great grandchildren, Sydney, Lauren, Kaleb, Kyle, Karson, Eli, Kason, Christopher; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Joetta Hillis and Reva Beilfuss.
Visitation will be held Friday, 4/13/12 at 11:30 AM with a Memorial service at 12:30 PM at the Bachman Hebble Funeral Service with Rev. Dr. James Gysel officiating.
A committal service of cremated remains will be at the Fort Custer National Cemetery at 1:30 PM with her husband. Memorial tributes may be made to the Fort Custer National Cemetery Honor Guard Fund.
