Obituary for Russel Hollister II

Russell C. Hollister II, 68, of Battle Creek passed away Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at his home in Battle Creek. He was born September 15, 1943 in Kalamazoo, MI, the son of Russell Corwin and Julia H. (Harrison) Catherman. He married Rose M. Yurisich/Sleight on May 25, 1989 in Battle Creek. Russell had worked for the City of Battle Creek, he started in 1977 retired in 2001. He was a member of the Masonic Temple in Battle Creek. Russell took exceptional care of his yard. He was a dog whisperer, his constant companion was his dog Bear. Russell was a member of the Gold Wing Touring Association, Chapter I. He graduated from Pennfield High School in 1962. He was a strong advocate of the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Russell enjoyed listening to country music, doing wood working and spending time with his grandchildren.

Surviving are his wife, Rose M. Hollister, children, Russell Hollister, Jimmy Hollister, Steven Yurisich, John Sleight, Lisa Hollister, Stephanie Kurzawski; 11 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren; brother and sister, Dave Hollister and Phyllis Quimby; step-brother and sister, Ron Catherman, Sandra Sheren; step-mother, Shelby Hollister and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and step-father, Max Catherman.
